NanoPharmaceutics lab @UCLan
Research
The NanoPharmaceutics group @UCLan focuses on the development, synthesis, fabrication and testing of novel biomedical strategies. Our research efforts emphasize on the advancement of controlled drug delivery nanosystems. Particular applications include imaging contrast agents, smart nanotracers and antimicrobial composites.
Micro- & nanofabrication for biomedical and pharmaceutical applications
We are working on the development of nanocarriers for targeted and selective drug delivery. The design of these systems is based on the self assembly of biomacromolecules and other biocompatible materials.
Antimicrobial strategies
We are exploring the use of nanomaterials and nanocomposites for the controlled release of antimicrobial compounds. Emphasis is given to the advancement on wound closure and disinfection strategies.
Enhanced
Bioimaging
We investigate various routes to obtain novel carbogenic nanoparticles and quantum dots applicable as light emitting nanomaterials and MRI probes.
Smart
Nanotracers
We are focused on the development of fluorescent materials as biological tracers and reporters. Our philosophy is based on the green nanotechnology and biomass derived functional materials.
